Chapter zero – setting up the solution
Install Visual Studio from Microsoft.
- You can get it here : http://www.microsoft.com/Express/VC/
NOTE: Be aware that I use the Professional version, so I did not tested this setup with Express.
Install NFringe from Pixel Mine.
- You can get it here : http://wiki.pixelminegames.com/index.php?title=Tools:nFringe:Releases
Setting up the project’s solution
Open Visual Studio. Do File – New Project, this will open this window, select UnrealScript in the Project Types. Type the name of the project, we will name our project MyIsometricGame. Hit the OK button.

Next to NFringe Project options
I downloaded and installed Visual Studio Express, rebooted, (several times), but no matter what NFRinge just won’t install. It keeps saying I need Visual Studio. But its own site seems to stay it will work with Visual Studio Express…
Try the UDK forum resources, I know people have been able to set it up.
Okay, got it working. But unfortunately the nFringe download only is a 30-day trial copy.
You only have to set it as unregistered and it will keep working even after that for UDK specifically.
if you want to use Visual Studio Express you will need to install Visual Studio SHELL. link on shell is on the NFRinge site.
just wonderin this is a full tutorial for UDK, and there is no visual studio, theres viual c++, visual studio phone, etc.
Take visual studio for C# or C++, any will do, as nfringe for coding in unrealscript will install as a plugin for any version.
Hello! I don´t see UnrealScript in Project style. This style I must download somewhere…or what? I use Expres 2008 C++ and I install VS SHELL… Sorry for my English and thank´s to answer:)
